Medical terminology is something of an enigma – many are used in everyday language but unless professionally trained, or have suffered first hand, most people have trouble explaining what they really mean.
If your job brings you in contact with medical terminology which you would like to understand better, or perhaps you are interested in increasing your knowledge, then we’d like to help.
medterm is an ongoing project providing a series of training courses covering the most common medical terms. Each course tackles a subject area; giving the background you need followed by common disorders and diseases. This is supplemented by associated terms, symptoms, examinations and treatments. Sample medical letters are included to show the use of the terms in context.
Courses use everyday English and clear illustrations. Medical terms can be clicked to see a definition - no need to keep referring backwards to refresh your memory. Our aim is to keep things simple. We aren't trying to make you an authority in any area of medicine, but to provide sufficient information and explanation so that you feel confident using medical terms correctly.
So, give medterm a try and see if it works for you – just click on the Courses link at the top to get started.
